Ditto

I have been crying over these photos for a solid week now, and have been just speech less when it comes to attempting to make a statement about how heavy my heart is about the spill in the Gulf.  Courtney's Troubled Waters post on In(side) the Loop is eloquently stated and I would just like to say ditto.

I have also decided to make a statement by donating to Gulf Aid.

The Fruits of Our Labor

So I fibbed...we did head towards a flowing body of water this weekend and visited with the Roth Family at Knopp Branch Farm.  We were pulled into the adventure after our farmers market visit and saw the bounty of the current harvest.  It was an extremely restorative weekend with a little work: fruit harvesting {peaches, blackberries, blueberries, plums}, sprinkler repair, and gofer hunting{with the best hunting dogs in Edna}; plenty of play: relaxing in the river, and farkel {more on that later}; and fabulous feasting: alfresco dining on the porch, and gelato|sorbet|sherbet extravaganza....I am convinced I will never again in my life be able to taste a more heavenly blackberry sorbet...picked from the vine just minutes before pureeing into the sweetest nectar of the gods.  The Roths are all great cooks...and it was a pleasure to take in how seamlessly they are able to help each other.

I was too in-the-moment {read: helpful} to break out the camera so here are a few pictures of what was not immediately consumed...but is now my incredible breakfast.

PS: I believe Anna is updating the website so KnoppBranchFarm.com is currently unavailable but do check back and if you are in Houston visit them at the Eastside Farmer's Market!

Coastal Textures

Since we are not heading to a body of water this holiday weekend, I am getting my fix by cruising through aquatic images.  Life Aquatic images that I am inspired by this week:

Urban Textures

Enamored with the urban textures created in Geotagger's World Atlas on Flickr.  It would be hard to choose only a few to hang on my walls, my must-haves are New Orleans, Barcelona, and San Francisco.  "The maps are ordered by the number of pictures taken in the central cluster of each one."  Amazing!  Which ones could you not resist?

Thanks Alicia for the buzz.

"Ta-da tie-dye" - Maya Romanoff

I often turn to Maya Romanoff for finish inspiration...in my hospitality design past there was never a project that didn't feature at least one of his wall covering products.  Yesterday as I was drafting a lil' blog post on inspiring textures and saving images of the Anniversary Collection something better landed in my inbox.
1stDibs weekly Eye on Design emailer has a great write up on Romanoff's career starting with Woodstock and ending with David Rockwell collaborations.  What really captivated me are the photos of Romanoff's large scale tie dye installations where he completely elevates the art of tie-dye.  I honestly had no idea that this is where it all started but I can see the connection to the Weathered Walls and Weathered Metals Collections.  Read the whole article here: 1stdibs Introspective - eye-on-design - Maya Romanoff

Love Windows

fen·es·tra·tion  n. 1. The design and placement of windows in a building.

Fenestration was my favorite word in college...  Often windows make the building.  I spotted this clever advertising installation and just had to snap a few pictures.

So, do you love your view?

B.I.N.G.O.

This is where you can find me every Thursday ... hanging with the "Special People Jesus Sent to Texas".  I love the bingo daubers; all of our discarded game tablets {i.e. losing sheets} are my new wrapping paper.
Maybe this week we will even get there early enough to sit at a table {not the stage}.

You are Missed

It has been two weeks since we lost Duke {Ellington not Blue Devil}.  So please bare with me while I get this out of my system.   I am not exactly sure when "good boy" morphed into "good Boudreaux"... somewhere along the way Will and I started calling him Boudreaux...I guess to us it just meant "my buddy".  I miss him everyday and all the sweet obnoxiousness that goes with owning a Lab...his tail could clear a coffee table in one sweep...he could bounce around like a lowrider with hydraulics...he thought he was a lap dog though he was only about 20 pounds lighter than me.

Without Duke we would not have met the best friends anyone could ask for in Charleston and in turn Will's first godchild....from our friend Rob Savoy {I added Rob's words to a picture of Duke in his favorite fountain}:

We have so many people to thank from our last months with Duke...we received lots of encouragement and support from our family and friends.

Boudreaux, We hope that you are playing relentlessly at the beach in the sky!
