November

So it's November already!  I love Citrines, what a great birthstone for you November babes out there.  I particularly like the rough texture of these little earrings.

The Tie That Binds

I am so stealing inspired by this idea [it might be straight up plagarism by the time I am done with it.]  I would buy one of these ASAP if it wasn't for the fact that my dad has an incredible collection of used ties from his long career in menswear.  Maybe I can request a COM [customers' own material] and send them into Turn Left Here.
So dad....all I want for Christmas is for you to box up your threadbare old ties and ship them down to Houston (remember that Zegna and Isaia are my favorite).

Hello World!  I think I have made the turn in my allergy debacle.  It feels wonderful to be out and about again and a part of the world.  Now I want to dust off the old beach cruiser and go exploring.  There is nothing like exploring your 'hood on a pair of fat tires and a comfy oversized seat.  We will have to re-instate our Sunday Booze Cruises through the neighborhood.  Care to join?

Love is like Clockwork

February is the month of love, whether you believe in St. Valentine or Hallmark.  Here are some wearable hearts from the collection "Clockwork Love" by Frank Tjepkema shown during Object Rotterdam 2010.  I love the intricate layering of clock movements to create these textures and emotions.....What is your heart mood: Golden Wings, Exposed, or Burning?

Cuff 'em: leighelena

My uber-cool-sis-in-law, Claire, gave me one of Leighelena's leather cuffs for Christmas.  Mine is a fantastic purple metallic with gold clasp.  Claire literally looked both ways at the end of her driveway, crossed the street, and entered Leigh's work|studio.  Previously working in mostly enamel, Claire was elated to see the new leather collection and scooped up a few for her favorite ladies. We searched for images online in December but none were to be found.  Low and behold they are now featured in March's Real Simple (and the images are online!).  So this is a congrats to Claire for scooping Real Simple and thanks for your continued thoughtfulness.

Allow me to introduce you to my friend Susan B., the creative mind behind Esther K. {the jewelry line named for her great grandmother}. Susan is one of the most inspiring people I have had the honor of knowing. Back in New Orleans during our spa shop girl days she was creating 'round the clock. Every morning she would come in with something new that she created or refashioned. Now living in Philadelphia {by way of NYC with fashion degree under her belt} she is still a woman about town, editing for Daily Candy Philadelphia, and designing Esther K.

Each Esther K. collection carries a theme that is brought to life in brass and reinvented vintage charms... so its sure to patina beautifully as time marches on. Susan is continually inspired by her time in New Orleans and those humid and sultry memories are perfectly channeled into these new heirlooms.

Fall Forward

Flipping through the latest J.Crew catalogue has me ready to accessorize for Fall {since the blazing Houston temperatures won't require dressing for fall for many months to come}. In the lastest installment Crew's stylist Gayle Spannaus provides wonderful style tips for Fall. These images have inspired me to turn jewelry pieces that are out-dated, broken, or I never wore in the first place into new pieces. I will post some pictures of my creations.

Lucky 30!

August has been such an incredible month! For my 30th, Will suprised me with three beautiful gifts. All I wanted to commemorate the big 3-0 was my Gogo cuff that we picked up at Jazz Fest a few months ago. I was elated to have this as my one and only gift, but, on my big day I was surprised with a gorgeous crab shell necklace. Lastly (I know this is sooo 2 years ago) and what I have been lusting the longest is my Keep Calm print that I came across a few years back here. Will tracked down the original source here so we can proudly display our own propaganda.
