Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of an Awesome Photograph

I recently found these photos underneath the drawer liner of our dresser and I feel like I have unearthed a national treasure, filling my heart with patriotic pride.  The dresser belonged to Will's grandparents and we are not sure if his great grandfather is in either of these pictures.  Mole and Thomas were quite prolific in these "living photographs" staging officers and enlisted men in emblems of American history, these are two in the series of ten.  Can you believe that this was almost a century ago?  Amazing!
Sadly these have seen quite a bit of weathering, the Liberty Bell even has a tear in nearly the same location as the infamous crack...oh the irony! I would love some tips on how to restore|preserve these gems if you have them.

  1. What amazing treasures! They are absolutely stunning, I wish I could help with preserving them but I don't know a thing about it!

  2. What a find! I don't think I'll find anything like that hidden in my Ikea drawer. ;)

  3. No kidding?!?! Wow, what an incredible find. History is so rich. Good luck on the whole preserving them thing....visit a museum, I am sure they would be happy to help you out!

  4. I have on of my grandfather in an eagle formation!
You might try HPI on Shepherd. They work wonders or at least will advise you.

  5. Thanks for all the suggestions y'all!

KB: maybe you can find a Swedish treasure in your drawers? :)

So glad that you stopped by for a visit...your comments make my day!
