Carving up a good time

This weekend Whole Foods had such an assortment of pumpkins.  If I carve pumpkins this year, I am certainly going to break out the power tools as found in This Old House magazine [the article isn't online yet so I posted the magazine pages below].  I much prefer creating patterns in my pumpkins to scary faces.  These remind me of a design I did in college which won the pumpkin carving contest in our studio.  Yes, I am hanging on to that victory because it was the first time I won a contest, and since I was a nervous first year design student, it sort of validated my decision.  For my design I scored and cut tons of lines and dots creating lots of rhythm and repetition.  No pictures though...my fellow interior classmates threw all the pumpkins off the balcony late one night.  I wish I would have been there for the stress reliever!

Pretty good excuse to break out the power tools!  Maybe a power tool happy hour is in order.

Ain't that the truth

I always want to downsize [with regular donation drop-offs] ...but somehow I keep finding new things to bring home....from Rue...I love the industrial objects in this space.

Creating Your Own Industry

I am an avid fan of every Tom Dixon design.   His latest collection Industry advocates that one can "design, produce, and sell things yourself in very efficient ways these days".   Premiering at Salone del Mobile 2010 and also featured this month at ICFF he created his own "flash factory" to promote the idea  to produce locally and with your own means.

Metropolis Mag also interviewed Dixon during ICFF 2010 with a quick shot of the "Flash Factory"
